Traditionally, women and people of color have been excluded from engaging in systems of power in the U.S.—this includes our election system. The path to parity, as explained by experts, has a lot of catching up to do. As women become more and more politically active, you would think that it would translate to more women holding poltical office. It doesnt't. Systemic reform offers a window into how we change the makeup of leadership.
