The Gender Parity Index (GPI) is RepresentWomen's annual measure of women's political representation in the United States. Each state receives a score, a letter grade, and a ranking based on women's presence in national, state, and local offices. Taken together, these scores show how close each state is to gender-balanced governance and how far the country still has to go. We’re releasing this year’s Index at a consequential moment for our democracy. The midterms are just months away, and the future of women’s political power is hanging in the balance. The decisions made now will shape whether women’s representation grows or stalls for years to come. RepresentWomen hosted our Democracy Solutions Series webinar - 2026 Gender Parity Index: Examining The Status of Women’s Representation. Research Director Courtney Lamendola walked us through the key takeaways of the report and leave space for audience Q&A.
