Where did the name Representation2020 come from?
The name “Representation2020” was originally a call for the achievement of gender parity in elected office by the year 2020, the centennial of women’s suffrage. As we approach 2020 and gain a clearer picture of the work that still remains to be done, “Representation2020” has come to signify the achievement of a government that accurately represents its population. Representation2020 strives to build a democracy where our legislators have “20/20 vision” and are clearly able to see all participants in our democracy.
