RepresentWomen’s Cynthia Richie Terrell introduces the Women’s Power Collaborative, a new platform connecting advocates and organizations to advance women’s representation and strengthen democracy.

Event: The Women’s Power Collaborative – An Interview with Cynthia Richie Terrell
Speakers: Cynthia Richie Terrell – Executive Director, RepresentWomen & Co-Founder, FairVote
Interviewer: Alissa Bombardier Shaw – Outreach Manager, RepresentWomen

RepresentWomen has launched the Women’s Power Collaborative (WPC)—a new member platform designed to connect, strengthen, and amplify organizations and advocates working to advance women’s political representation.

In this conversation, Executive Director Cynthia Richie Terrell joins Outreach Manager Alissa Bombardier Shaw to discuss the origins of the platform, its significance, and how it can transform the democracy reform movement.

Key highlights include:

  • The history of coalition-building that led to the WPC, and the inheritance of the State Network model.

  • The need to bridge gaps between women’s representation organizations and the democracy reform community.

  • How the WPC can support underrepresented groups—including rural women, Republican women, young women, and women of color—who remain excluded from leadership.

  • Short- and long-term goals, from providing practical tools and resources to developing scalable, replicable models for impact.

  • Lessons from New York City’s electoral reforms—term limits, public financing, and ranked choice voting—that enabled women (especially women of color) to achieve majority representation on the City Council.

The Women’s Power Collaborative is designed to build stronger infrastructure, drive investment into structural reforms, and ensure that women at every level — local, state, and national — have the tools to run, win, serve, and lead.
